What would possess a man to intentionally murder someone? What would possess a man to kill his own daughter because she defamed him? What would possess a man to blow up the Boston Marathon or fly jetliners into skyscrapers? Who could dwell in such darkness?

Last week in England, two men waited in their car for someone to kill. It wasn’t random, because they waited for a military man. Finally spotting their victim, the driver started his car and floored it. He drove up over the curb and ran the young soldier down before he even knew it was happening as they slammed into him on the sidewalk.

That wasn’t enough hatred and violence though, as the two men stopped the car and decapitated the man, cutting his head off with a meat cleaver. This happened in broad daylight, in a public place and apparently it took 20 minutes for the police to arrive. This delay allowed ample time for the perpetrator to make a rant that would later be shown on televisions around the world, an instant youtube hit. The British security apparatus was well aware of the men.

What possessed these men to commit such a heinous attack?

About 2,000 years ago, there was a Jewish sect known as the Essenes. The Essenes lived and worshipped in privacy for the most part, and many Jews at the time thought they were a little odd.

The Essenes, on the other hand, considered themselves as the enlightened ones, understanders of hidden mysteries of nature, things most men don’t know. They were the true chosen who left Jerusalem to move 25 miles into the desert near Qumran. They felt that Jerusalem and the Temple had become too corrupt.

The Essenes were writers and kept careful copies of the ancient Hebrew Scriptures. When Rome decided to wipe Israel off the map, the Essenes hid all the scrolls in the caves of Qumran along the coast of the Dead Sea. At least this is what many believe. They remained undiscovered until 1947.

War ScrollsThe Dead Sea Scrolls contain fragments from every book of the Old Testament except the Book of Esther, and the scrolls remain the oldest biblical record to this day. One of the scrolls discovered was a military manual known as the War Scroll describing strategies for the coming apocalyptic war, the final war.

The War Scroll contains prophecies about an apocalyptic war in which the Sons of Light (goodness) would fight against the Sons of Darkness (evil). The result of that war would be the end of darkness with the Sons of Light living in peace for eternity. Sounds a lot like the War of Armageddon mentioned in Revelation.

“Then they gathered the kings together to the place that in Hebrew is called Armageddon.” Revelation 16:16 NIV

Apparently, the Essenes believed there were mainly two types of people: good and evil; them and everyone else. Sound familiar?

The result would be a war to end all wars. The belief was that there would be 7 wars. The good guys would win 3, and the bad guys would win 3. This tie would be broken in a final 7th war when God intervened on the side of the Sons of Light. As John said 30 years later in Revelation, speaking of Armageddon, the result was the same. Good wins; evil loses. Forever.

Are there really just good or evil people? That’s not to say that good people never do evil and evil people never do good, but could the tendency to do a lot of bad stuff be genetic. Are good and charitable people good and charitable because they were programmed that way or because they have the good-gene.

When it comes to biology, women have 2 sex-chromosomes, designated as XX; and men have two, designated as XY. Sometimes there’s an aberration and an extra chromosome appears. One aberration is when a man has an extra Y-chromosome, XYY. This abnormality was discovered in 1961; and in the mid-seventies many scientists thought there was a direct relationship between XYY men and criminal behavior. Several studies were conducted in the prison systems, and the hypothesis appeared to be true. There were scoffers, and later studies tended to show that a link could not be confirmed.

In my opinion, and I wrote a paper about this in 1973, the extra chromosome, which happens only once in every 1000 male births, probably does have a masculine affect. There is probably some link between the extra Y and testosterone and adrenalin.

So back to the opening questions, what makes evil possess some but not others? The answer in many cases is the religion of peace, Islam.

After September 11, 2001 President Bush continued to describe Islam as a “peaceful religion.”

Last week after the public and in broad daylight beheading of a British citizen, Prime Minister David Cameron said this:

“There is nothing in Islam that justifies this truly dreadful act.”

Bull feathers.

This is yet another reason that I suggest Christians pick up a copy of the Quran at Barnes & Noble and read it. We all need to know that yes, the Quran does indeed justify this behavior, and here are three examples. There are many more.

Quran (3:151) - "Soon shall We cast terror into the hearts of the Unbelievers, for that they joined companions with Allah, for which He had sent no authority".

Quran (4:104) - "And be not weak hearted in pursuit of the enemy; if you suffer pain, then surely they (too) suffer pain as you suffer pain..."

Quran (5:33) - "The punishment of those who wage war against Allah and His messenger and strive to make mischief in the land is only this, that they should be murdered or crucified or their hands and their feet should be cut off on opposite sides or they should be imprisoned; this shall be as a disgrace for them in this world, and in the hereafter they shall have a grievous chastisement."

Has Islamic terrorism “cast terror into the hearts of” non-Muslims? It was predicted in the New Testament 600 years before Muhammad was born.

“People will faint from terror, apprehensive of what is coming on the world, for the heavenly bodies will be shaken.” Luke 21:26 NIV

Cal Thomas expands on this in his column today, and I agree with him. David Cameron and other leaders might ponder the warnings of Churchill. The article mentions a video about the intent of Islam to take over the world, and here is an excerpt. It’s a wonder that so many don’t believe it.
