Comments: WOW! Right on point, Steve. How very, very true. I've never heard it put so well. I'd give this 6 stars, if it were possible. God Bless you for your writings. John

2 Shout AMEN!Amen ~ PrayingPraying

Comments: Amen! Now if a pastor should preach on Romans 9-11, the likely result would be John 6:65-66.

"And he said, 'Therefore said I unto you, that no man can come unto me, except it were given unto him of my Father.'

From that time many of his disciples went back, and walked no more with him."

So what's the answer? How can we change things? Any ideas?

Comments: Steve, I could not agree with you more, my pastor says the laymen do not have the attention span to sit through an hour sermon, but I do so daily. I have come to the conclusion that those who do not participate have no right to complain; our churches are not "a-one-man-show". I have determined to build context for my brethren, one lamb at a time, so they may absorb the amazing truth of scripture all the while I continue to pray for the leadership of my church, I pray they will regain the passion I am sure they once had.

Comments: But they frequently are one-man shows and that's the problem. Several teaching elders are the biblical model. I've found that Sunday school is where the action usually is...small groups interacting with the teacher. People can forge real friendships there too.
